Siding
FAQ’s

If you’ve already paid to repair your siding but keep having the same issues, it may be time for siding replacement. The good news is that unless you want a complete overhaul of your home’s exterior, we can replace sections of siding rather than the whole house. There are two exceptions to this scenario where we would need to do siding replacement on the whole house.

Change to a New Siding Material

If you think your old aluminum siding looks outdated, or you’re tired of painting your wood siding, you may opt for siding replacement for your whole house. New vinyl siding or fiber cement siding is an excellent replacement siding option. We are certified siding installers for fiber cement siding from industry leader James Hardie or high-quality vinyl siding from CertainTeed.

We would remove all of the existing siding and make any necessary repairs to your home’s exterior before proceeding with siding replacement.

Siding That Is Crumbling

Another reason you might opt for siding replacement for your whole home is if you have asbestos siding that is crumbling. If you have older siding that appears to be slate, this is likely asbestos siding. The good news is that this siding holds up remarkably well, the bad news is that you can’t disturb it without having trained professionals on hand to encapsulate and remove it for you.

If it is not crumbling, government guidelines recommend leaving it alone or painting it. If it is crumbling, you need asbestos siding removal done by a professional certified in asbestos removal.

The Best Materials for Your Siding Replacement

Fiber cement siding like the James Hardie products we install was recently rated in a national study as one of the best home remodeling investments, with the highest rate of return on your remodeling dollar. In addition, vinyl was also in the “top ten” of smart investments.

Both siding options are low-maintenance and will add to the value of your home. Siding has come a long way over the past few years. The choices in materials, colors, and patterns have expanded greatly. Some popular options include:

  • Lap Siding (including ShipLap and Clapboard)
  • Shake & Shingle
  • Vertical Siding
  • Siding with a Stucco Appearance
