Siding Glossary

A: The best siding for your home will be dictated by a number of things such as your neighborhood association, the type and age of your home, and what your neighbors have installed. It can also be dictated by your maintenance needs and budget.

A: The length of time your new siding will take to be installed depends largely on the size of your home and the type of siding you are getting. Vinyl siding can go up in about two days, while some types of wood siding can take as long as 2 weeks. Remember that it will also take time to remove the old siding, and replace the house wrap if necessary. If you are having wood siding installed, that will need to be painted, which can add to the timeframe.

A: You may want to use one of the Design Tools/Visualizers to get an idea of this.

Fiber Cement Siding Questions

A: Fiber cement siding is the newest player in the siding industry. It’s a durable, low-maintenance, and non-combustible siding material made of Portland cement, sand, water, and cellulose fibers. We install fiber cement siding from James Hardie.

A: As with all siding types, your siding cost will depend on the size of your home as well as the amount of labor involved. In general, fiber cement siding will cost more than the same amount of vinyl siding. The best way to get accurate pricing is to ask for an estimate.

Aluminum Siding Questions

A: Yes, it is but it is very hard to get.

A: Yes, and in fact, you will need to have it professionally repainted every 5-10 years to keep it looking its best.
