The Truth About Roofing Prices

Getting a new roof can be stressful, especially if you need roof replacement quickly because of storm damage. But it doesn’t have to be stressful, if you keep a level head, and learn the truth about roofing prices.

Your roof replacement cost is going to depend on several factors, including:

  • Size and pitch of your roof
  • Complexity of the roof architecture
  • The roofing material you choose

If you know your roof is aging and you’re a savvy homeowner, you may start looking for the best price well before you plan to schedule the work to be done. Keep reading to learn some of the facts about roofing prices.

A Coupon or Limited Time Deal May Not Be a Deal After All

You know how some department stores and car dealerships mail out coupons or deals for “special pricing”? They want you to think you’re getting a deal, but you may actually be paying more than you would with a roofing contractor who keeps their prices relatively the same.

That’s because some of those “deals” are based on a higher cost per square foot than companies like NV Roofing may charge. If your price is higher to begin with, and you throw in a coupon, it may still be higher than other companies would charge, but you the customer feel like you’re getting a deal.

This is why it pays to get multiple quotes – at least three. We understand that everyone wants to save money where they can, but making an informed choice is always the best scenario. If it’s only a deal because they call it that, then it’s not really a deal, is it?

A Lowball Price May Be a Red Flag

It also pays to be wary of a roofing contractor who comes in with a quote several thousand dollars below the other companies you’re considering. Did they leave something out of their quote? Are they using inferior materials? Are they paying employees under the table? Or are they uninsured?

These are all questions to as if a roofing company comes up with roofing prices that seem too good to be true. You can find some of the answers yourself by checking with your state licensing department. If they are licensed and insured, it will say so. You may also find that a company is not licensed, or has let their insurance lapse. Those are huge red flags warning you to stay away.
